Privacy Policy
Prayer has no separate app sign-up, advertising SDKs, or in-app analytics. Information you choose to send is processed to deliver it. Personal reflections stay in the app's local storage.
What the app stores
- On your device: your first name, the name of the person you pray for, your verse history, saved verse references, journal reflections, reading-path progress, streak, and preferences. Journal reflections are not sent to your prayer partner or stored in our CloudKit delivery database. Local app data may be included in your normal Apple device backups, depending on your settings.
- In Apple iCloud (CloudKit): pairing and direct delivery use the app's CloudKit public database. Records can contain the verse, optional personal note, sender's chosen first name, sending time, and random sender/recipient inbox identifiers. Apple may associate records with the iCloud account used to create them. These identifiers are not phone numbers, but they are not a promise of anonymity. Delivery records are not end-to-end encrypted and may be accessible through the database's permissions and developer administration tools. Do not send confidential information. Direct delivery requires iCloud; reading a shared web verse does not.
Why information is processed
Names, messages, and inbox identifiers are used for pairing and delivery, not advertising or tracking across other companies' apps or websites. We do not sell personal information. Apple processes iCloud and purchase information under its own policies.
Storage and your choices
You choose whether to pair, what name to enter, and what to send. Reading daily verses does not require sending a message. Journal entries in the upcoming journal feature can be edited or deleted inside the Journal tab. Uninstalling the app removes its local storage, but does not erase recipients' copies, device backups, or existing CloudKit delivery records. Delivery records do not currently have an automatic expiry. Contact us about access or deletion requests; we may need information that verifies your relationship to a record without disclosing another person's data.
Subscriptions
The subscription is processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. We never see your payment details. Manage or cancel it anytime in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
Verse links
When you share a verse as a link, the verse and any included name or note are encoded in the URL, not encrypted. Anyone with that link can read it. URLs may also remain in browser history, messaging services, or hosting logs. The website is hosted on Vercel, which receives request information such as IP address, requested URL, and browser information to serve and secure the site. We have not added marketing trackers or analytics scripts to these pages.
Verse artwork and read-aloud prayers
When you choose to share verse artwork, the selected passage and its reference appear in the image. Its QR code contains a link to that passage; it does not include your journal or first name. The destination you select in the sharing menu receives the image. Read-aloud prayers use Apple's built-in speech synthesis; the app does not record your voice or request microphone access.
Children
Prayer is not designed to solicit children's personal information. Avoid putting a child's name or other identifying details in shared notes or links. If you believe a child has submitted personal information that should be removed, contact us.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address.
